Now, sometimes we buy the collection of a true enthusiast. This collection would never have become available to us during his lifetime, but sadly this particular enthusiast, Brian, recently passed away, leaving us with what is without doubt the biggest Atari 400/800 Disc collection we have bought in our thirty year history.
This lot consists of approximately 830 5.25 Inch Discs full of Atari software. As a dedicated Atari enthusiast, this collection started way back in the early 1980s, and continued right up until his decline. While we can not verify what is on each disc, the vast majority include labels or little slips of paper inside listing the contents - and most of these discs seem to be full to the brim with multiple titles. Mainly it seems to be games, but there is serious software here too, and with thousands of titles listed across the collection, I would say there are bound to be super rare lost titles here too. We picked some out in the photos, they give you an idea of how full of content these are.
Now, condition is probably mixed, generally all the discs we've checked look clean, but there are bound to be some which have loading issues or are blank, just due to the scale of the collection. Do bear this in mind, we have not tested anything.
Has anyone got the time to go through these discs and discover all the software gems contained within? Sadly not many of us, but what a way to spend the coming months if you do! Perhaps a retirement project.
