1981 SUPER RARE Tabletop console. Following on from the success of MB Simon, Super Simon and Milton, MB set their sites on a more serious multi-player tabletop game, and Omni was the result.
Omni is a quiz game for one to four players which uses game cartridges on 8 track audio cassettes to create the games. There is code on the cartridges which is read into the machine on insertion, basically like a computer, to handle the answers. The questions are then read aloud from the cartridge, often by celebrity quiz masters. Answers are then typed in on each player's keyboard area, and the scores given as you progress.
Initially costing over $200 on release, the system sold in very low numbers in the USA, so the worldwide release was cancelled. However there were a variety of game cartridges released for it.
This example is complete in Excellent, fully tested condition. The console iteself is in quite beautiful condition with no significant signs of wear, close to 10/10. Includes instructions, warranty, cartridge flyer, USA power supply (a step down transformer required for use in the UK/Europe) and a supplied game cartridge - Variety Programmes gives a taste of lots of the other quiz cart available, and comes boxed. The console's outer box is also Excellent, particularly considering it's size and age, 8.5/10.
